A recent article published in the MIT Sloan Management Review has identified eleven kinds of macro disruptions. These disruptions are named as 1. Wealth Distribution, 2. Education, 3. Infrastructure, 4. Government, 5. Geopolitics, 6. Economy, 7. Public Health, 8. Demographics, 9. Environment, 10. Media and Telecommunication, and 11. Technology.

The right tech adoptions and implementations can shield your organization against macro disruptions listed above. COVID-19 came as a public health disruption. It tested the resilience of all the business entities of the world. But those who have used the right technology, they have been saved against the global public health crisis. Here are a few practical ideas and examples of how technology can shield your organization against the macro disruptions.

1. Wealth Distribution: Online fintech startups and online payment adoptions by the organizations and governments have guarded them against the wealth distribution crisis. The direct benefit transfer scheme by the Indian government and Paytm penetrating the small towns are excellent examples of this kind.

2. Education: Organizations such as Google, Microsoft, IBM have started their online courses to teach and train people for their future human resource requirements.

3. Infrastructure: Technologies such as AI, IoT, Robotics, and Automation are helping the economies and firms to reimagine their supply chain and other infrastructure in the current changing environments.

4. Government: The Indian government has used the android app for tracking COVID-19 patients. When the Indian government has demonetized, many of the businesses went for fintech solutions.

5. Geopolitics: Indigenous tech solutions help organizations amid the geopolitical crisis. Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) have created many tech solutions for COVID-19 emergencies.

6. Economy: Technology has helped businesses amid the economic crisis. The looming COVID-19 and financial crisis arising from it have made Nissan Renault group use tech solutions for cost-cutting and other management.

7. Public Health: AI, IoT, and Data analytics have helped organizations and governments to track down COVID-19 patients.

8. Demographics: Tech helps in the demographic challenges faced by the organizations. A large milk-producing brand in India connects its remote sales and operations team by using wireless technology.

9. Environment: Renewable technologies are helping organizations show sustainability and resilience amid the global warming environmental crisis.

10. Media and Telecommunication: When it comes to brand image or public image crises, companies use the social media tech to deal with the crisis. Maggi made a good comeback in India by social media tech-centered campaigns.

11. Technology: One can notice here that technology itself can disrupt your organization’s daily and long-term operations. However, organizations can adopt the right tech against the tech disruptions as well. Businesses switching to AI, IoT, and Data analytics solutions are examples of how they are using technology against the kinds of technology impacting the business environment.

Companies that will adopt tech solutions can cope up well with business environment changes. Technology can very well shield the businesses even against the micro disruptions. Your comments, examples, and views are very much welcome here.
